Agentic AI: Govts Eye Autonomous AI for Public Services

Governments show massive interest in agentic AI. A study reveals 71% of government decision-makers believe agentic AI is the best way to accelerate AI adoption in public services. This type of AI acts like an artificial individual, capable of autonomous tasks. What's interesting is that this reflects challenges like workforce constraints and skills gaps in the public sector. More than half of leaders, 51%, plan to invest in agentic AI over the next 12 to 18 months. However, a majority, 66%, fear the technology is evolving too quickly for their workforce to keep up. Also, just under half of leaders, 44%, will only accelerate AI adoption if strong safeguards for data security and privacy are in place. Another 58% identified strong sovereign data governance as a critical requirement. The bottom line is that while governments are keen on agentic AI for efficiency, they also recognize the crucial need for safeguards and workforce readiness.
