Agentic AI: Token Economy Boom & $100B Revenue Projections

Agentic AI has entered the commercial mainstream, fundamentally changing how artificial intelligence operates. This new form of AI can now break down tasks, select tools, and deliver results, moving beyond just providing answers. Here's the thing: since February, AI token consumption has sharply increased. Agentic tasks use five to 30 times more tokens than standard conversations because they execute entire workflows. Goldman Sachs projects global token consumption will be 24 times higher by 2030, driven almost entirely by agentic uses. What's interesting is that corporate results are reflecting this shift. Anthropic's annual recurring revenue was revised to over $40 billion, up from about $30 billion in just one month. OpenAI's autonomous coding service, Codex, is also seeing significant gains. The two companies' combined revenue is projected to reach $100 billion soon. The bottom line: the token economy is now generating measurable, recurring revenue, leading to sales growth and increased investor appeal for companies with large foundation models. This means new investment opportunities are emerging for component suppliers and systems integrators.
