AI Agent Threats Soar: India's Regulatory Gap Exposed

AI agent-led cybersecurity threats are expected to rise significantly in the next few years. This comes as businesses globally adopt these systems more widely. Cybersecurity firms like Rubrik, Sophos, and Sentinelone are highlighting this trend. In India, a key concern is the absence of specific legal and regulatory frameworks for AI agents. Experts say this could seriously challenge efforts to counter these threats. Shivaprakash Abburu, a cybersecurity partner at EY India, predicts AI agent-related threats could increase three to fourfold in the next 18 months. He notes that many companies are using traditional security tools to protect their AI systems, which may not be sufficient. This means businesses need to re-evaluate their cybersecurity strategies to prepare for this evolving landscape.
