Almost all security bosses are worried about AI safety. This comes as AI is writing software faster than humans can review it. New research claims 90% of security leaders have concerns about risks from AI-generated software. However, organizations are still embracing AI tools. This is because AI speeds up coding tasks and increases software delivery. The problem is that human review cannot keep up with AI's speed. Nearly a third of respondents identified insecure coding patterns as the primary risk. AI tools can generate functional code that contains vulnerabilities a human might have caught. More than one-third of organizations still depend on manual code reviews before launch. This method worked when developers wrote software at human speed, but it struggles with AI's dramatically increased output. This matters because current security processes are struggling to keep pace with how AI is changing software development.
