AI Defense Race: Naver & NC AI Transform Military Tech

AI competition is now expanding into the defense sector. Domestic tech firms are leveraging their models and infrastructure for military applications. Naver Cloud and NC AI are moving beyond government AI competitions to target this new defense market. Naver Cloud recently held a seminar, unveiling its strategy for sovereign AI-based defense transformation. This follows the launch of its dedicated task force for defense AI adoption. The company aims to build a full-stack Korean defense AI platform. It plans to use its HyperCLOVA X large language model and cloud infrastructure to integrate military data and support decision-making. Naver also wants to link central military data centers with modular and edge infrastructure for frontline deployment. NC AI is focusing on physical AI and robotics. The company was selected as a contractor for a national research project to develop a physical AI-based simulator and robotic system for future battlefields. NC AI will lead the development of a world model, a core component for robot foundation models. This shows how advanced AI capabilities are becoming crucial for national security and military operations.
