AI Deployments Strain Enterprise Security: 14% Attack Surface Rise

AI deployments are significantly stretching enterprise security. CISOs and CTOs expect these deployments to increase their organizations’ attack surface by an average of 14% in the next year. Here's the thing: nearly all lack visibility into their AI deployments, and 90% worry about employees using unapproved AI tools. Only 15% of respondents are very confident their current security tools can adequately protect AI deployments. Confidence is even lower for CISOs. What's interesting is that security investments over the past decade focused on human users, making existing tools less suited for AI agents and machine-to-machine communications. This is a problem because vulnerability exploitation accounts for about 31% of breaches, and AI helps attackers exploit these faster. The bottom line: AI applications rely on many connections, and each creates a potential entry point for attackers. This means organizations need to find new ways to secure machine identities and AI agents, rather than just human ones.
