Businesses are more worried about AI-fueled threats than traditional cybersecurity dangers. This is according to researchers at the security firm Arctic Wolf. Here's the thing: this focus on AI might actually undermine their ability to prepare for the attacks they are most likely to face. Roughly a third of organizations said AI topped their list of concerns, while worries about malware and credential theft dropped. What's interesting is that companies are investing heavily in AI-powered automation to help their human defenders. Nearly half are in early stages of integrating AI into their cybersecurity, and 34% have mature deployments. However, Arctic Wolf calls this prominence of AI a potentially worrisome trend. Researchers warn that the attention AI receives could be distracting leaders from more familiar business risks. The issues businesses worried less about remain legitimate risks. The report also found a paradox: 63% of organizations experienced at least one cybersecurity incident in the past 12 months. Yet, 53% of business leaders are highly confident in their security teams. This confidence level was even higher in organizations that *had* experienced an incident. The bottom line: businesses need to balance preparing for new AI risks with safeguarding against existing, ongoing threats.
