Alibaba Qwen 3.8-Max: AI for Coding & Research

Alibaba has launched its "most capable" artificial intelligence model, Qwen 3.8-Max. This new AI model has 2.4 trillion parameters. What's interesting is that Alibaba describes it as setting "a new bar for coding and cowork." Its open-weight version will be available next week, allowing developers to download and modify its trained parameters. Alibaba claims Qwen 3.8-Max performed as well as or better than Anthropic's Fable 5 in tests. This model is built on the Qwen 3.5 architecture and is designed for lengthy tasks like research and coding, offering improved reliability for complex tasks. The Qwen 3.8-Max supports a context window of up to 1 million tokens, meaning it can process up to 750,000 words per query. It can also perform "real visual production tasks," like turning footage into vlogs or developing applications from simple prompts. This development could significantly impact how complex digital tasks are handled.
