Altman: AI Net Job Creator, Not Killer

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman now believes AI will create more jobs than it eliminates. This is a shift from his earlier warnings about potential mass layoffs. Similarly, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei now calls automation a productivity multiplier, moving away from his previous view of AI as a job killer. He had once claimed AI would quickly take over many entry-level office jobs. However, current studies show no significant AI impact on overall measured productivity or the job market. One study found that job issues for programmers and copywriters began before ChatGPT launched. The Yale Budget Lab also found no AI-related job market changes.
