Altman vs. Musk: GPT-5.6 Sparks New AI Feud

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX chief Elon Musk are once again clashing on social media. This follows the launch of OpenAI's GPT-5.6 series of AI models. Altman took a dig at Musk, stating that while many benchmarks suggest GPT-5.6 Sol is the best model, the most reliable indicator is Musk "is obsessed with me again." This refers to Musk reposting memes targeting Altman, calling him "Scam Altman," and promoting Grok 4.5. Altman also jabbed at SpaceX's plans for AI datacenters in space. Musk countered, stating SpaceX will fly them next year, and repeated claims that Altman "stole a charity," referring to OpenAI's non-profit arm. Musk also claimed Altman stole Apple's technology. This comes as Apple filed a lawsuit this week, accusing the ChatGPT maker of stealing trade secrets. The lawsuit alleges OpenAI and two former Apple employees, Tang Tan and Chang Liu, engaged in a coordinated effort to misuse confidential information related to Apple's hardware development. Apple claims both employees improperly accessed confidential company information after moving to OpenAI. This ongoing public feud highlights the intense competition and personal rivalries within the AI industry.
