Amazon's MGM Studios has dropped an upcoming movie about OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The film, titled "Artificial," was set to star Andrew Garfield as Altman and detail his firing and rehiring in 2023. The decision reportedly stems from concerns about Altman's candor with the board. An Amazon spokesperson stated the movie would be "better served" by a different studio. Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, made the call after seeing a "markedly darker" cut of the film than the original script. The script also included portrayals of figures like Elon Musk and Satya Nadella. This news comes as Amazon became a major investor in OpenAI earlier this year, with plans for a $50 billion investment. This move could impact future projects between Amazon and OpenAI.
