Anthropic AI: Claude Models Get Global Release

The US has lifted export restrictions on Anthropic's new Claude AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5. This comes about three weeks after these models were initially flagged as national security risks. Fable 5 is now available globally. US organizations regained access to Mythos 5 on June 26th. Anthropic is also working with the government to expand Mythos access to more partners in the Glasswing program. This program allows cybersecurity researchers to use Mythos for defensive purposes. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed Anthropic no longer needs a license for exports or transfers of these models. He noted Anthropic took steps to address the risks. The company agreed to expand its partnership with the government. It also set up a program to work with hackers and has an internal team monitoring threats around the clock. Lutnick reminded Anthropic that the US can re-evaluate these decisions and reimpose curbs at any time. This development shows how government and private sectors are collaborating to deploy AI technology.
