Anthropic CEO: AI Trust Crisis Stems from Institutional Distrust

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei states that people simply don't trust artificial intelligence. He says this distrust stems from a deep crisis of trust in institutions, not just fear of technology. He notes that 77% of people worry about higher electricity prices due to data centers. In the first quarter of this year, 75 projects worth about $130 billion faced community resistance. Amodei argues that AI companies have failed to deliver on most promises. He says real breakthroughs, like in cancer treatment, would build more trust than empty slogans.
