Anthropic Mythos 5: US Approves Limited Rollout

The US government has authorized a limited release of Anthropic's advanced AI model, Mythos 5. This allows a small group of trusted American cybersecurity firms and infrastructure providers to access it. This decision comes after national security concerns led to its suspension earlier this month. Anthropic confirmed on Friday that it received approval to restore access for select organizations. The company plans to continue discussions with US authorities to broaden access and eventually restore public availability of its less powerful Fable 5 model. This is a partial reversal of restrictions imposed on June 12. At that time, the US government ordered Anthropic to disable access to both Mythos 5 and Fable due to vulnerabilities in safeguards. US commerce secretary Howard Lutnick stated that Anthropic has addressed the risks associated with the advanced AI models. Anthropic confirmed that Mythos 5, their strongest cybersecurity model, can now be redeployed to a small group of cyber defenders and infrastructure providers.
