Anthropic's Mythos 5 Released to Trusted Partners

The US government is now allowing Anthropic to release its Mythos 5 AI model to "trusted partners." This decision comes two weeks after the government had ordered Anthropic to suspend access to some of its models. The initial suspension was due to concerns that these models could be used by military intelligence users in China, Russia, or other countries. Now, over 100 companies and institutions, including many Fortune 500 companies, will have access to Mythos 5. US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated that Anthropic has addressed the risks associated with the models. An export license will no longer be needed for Mythos 5 for trusted companies and their foreign national employees. However, restrictions remain for companies not on the approved list. The government is also moving towards allowing Anthropic to release its Fable model, though a timeline is unclear. This development highlights the ongoing balance between AI innovation and national security.
