Antigravity Expands: Google AI Coding Agent Beyond IDE

Google's AI coding agent, Antigravity, is now expanding beyond its own environment. The company announced new extensions that integrate Antigravity into popular developer tools like Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, and Zed. Here's the thing: developers can now use Antigravity directly within their existing code editors. This means they can open agent conversations in a side panel, review code changes, and delegate multi-step tasks without leaving their project. The same Antigravity account works across these different environments. The VS Code extension is available now on macOS, Linux, and Windows. Support for Visual Studio 2026 and .NET solutions is in preview, and JetBrains suites, starting with version 2026.2.1, are also supported. What's interesting is that administrators can enable these tools for employees with eligible Gemini Enterprise subscriptions and can set monthly spending caps for Google Cloud projects. However, a single engineering task can use between 150,000 to 200,000 tokens, and these tokens can be consumed rapidly. The bottom line: this move makes it easier for Google to integrate its AI coding agent into enterprise engineering teams, but managing token consumption will be a key challenge.
