Apple vs. OpenAI: Trade Secret Lawsuit Heats Up

Apple has sent legal documents to dozens of OpenAI employees. This action is part of a trade secret leak lawsuit. Apple is suing OpenAI, alleging that former employees stole company secrets. The legal documents instruct these OpenAI employees to meet with a lawyer and preserve records. Around 40 current OpenAI employees have received these letters. Apple claims one former employee, Tang Tang, collaborated with OpenAI while still at Apple. After joining OpenAI, Tang allegedly extracted Apple information from job applicants. Another former employee, Zhang Liu, reportedly didn't comply with non-disclosure agreements and illegally accessed Apple's systems. Apple also alleges that OpenAI, along with io Products, engaged in fraudulent activities to help OpenAI enter the hardware market. OpenAI denies these claims, stating it has no interest in other companies' trade secrets. This legal action signals a deepening conflict between the two tech giants.
