Apple vs. OpenAI: Trade Secrets Lawsuit Heats Up

Apple is seeking a preliminary injunction against OpenAI in a trade secrets case. The company alleges that two former employees, now at OpenAI, misappropriated its trade secrets. This, Apple claims, benefits OpenAI's move into consumer hardware. Apple filed this request with a US judge on Monday. It wants to bar OpenAI and the former employees from accessing or using its confidential information. Apple also asked for expedited discovery, including documents related to the alleged access of its proprietary information. The iPhone maker wants depositions from the two named former employees, Liu Chang and Tan Tang Yew, along with other OpenAI staff. Liu is a former senior system electrical engineer, and Tan was a vice-president of product design for iPhone and Apple Watch. OpenAI denies the claims, stating that Apple's request is based on false information. This lawsuit highlights a growing battle over future AI devices.
