Augment Code Cosmos: Agentic AI for Team Software Dev

Augment Code has launched Cosmos, a new service designed to bring agentic AI software development to teams. This aims to move beyond individual AI coding assistants to a more coordinated model for engineering teams. Vice President of Engineering Vinay Perneti explains that while individual developers have seen speed increases with AI agents, teams haven't seen the same boost because context isn't shared. Cosmos tackles this bottleneck by operating at a higher level than just one agent per developer. It provides individual agents and also enables entire organizations to plan, develop, build, and deploy using cross-team knowledge. The company calls Cosmos a software delivery lifecycle platform. It's designed for collaboration between humans and agents, with agents handling much of the autonomous work. Humans remain involved in prioritization, specification, intent validation, and high-risk decision-making. This new approach could change how software development teams collaborate and increase their overall efficiency.
