Avataar.ai's Varya: India's Affordable Video AI Model

Avataar.ai has launched Varya, an indigenous video AI model designed to make advanced AI affordable and culturally relevant for India. This new model is up to 10 times more cost-efficient than some global video models, generating video at 48 paise per second. Varya was unveiled in New Delhi and is supported by the IndiaAI Mission. It aims to lower execution costs while accurately representing India's regional and visual diversity. The model understands and generates visual outputs spanning India's distinct regions, festivals, communities, and public spaces. The initiative targets applications in education, commerce, governance, citizen services, and digital storytelling for small and medium enterprises. A key technical innovation is a distillation technique that reduces video generation from 50 steps to just four. This launch marks a significant milestone in India's AI journey, aiming to make frontier-quality video AI dramatically more efficient and accessible for everyone.
