AWS, Stripe, Coinbase: Agentic AI Payments Launched

AI agents are moving beyond simple assistants to become autonomous entities capable of initiating actions. What's interesting is a new collaboration between Coinbase, Stripe, and AWS. They've launched Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments in preview. This solution allows AI agents to seamlessly pay for APIs and digital content. Coinbase and Stripe provide the wallet infrastructure and payment rails for these transactions. This is the first managed payment capability specifically for autonomous agents, covering everything from wallet authentication to spending governance. It lets developers focus on agent tasks instead of payment mechanics. Users can link an agent to a wallet, set spending limits, and every transaction is logged. The first use case focuses on micropayments, often under one US dollar. This enables agents to access previously unavailable data, like real-time market data or paywalled articles. Heurist AI is already using AgentCore Payments to develop a research agent for financial analysis. This development means AI agents can now handle their own financial transactions securely and efficiently.
