Bell & Cohere Partner for Canadian AI Infrastructure

Bell Canada has signed an artificial intelligence infrastructure deal with Cohere. The AI firm will operate its large language models through Bell AI Fabric. Under the agreement, Bell will provide data center capacity in Merritt, B.C. Buzz High Performance Computing and Hypertec are also involved. Buzz, a subsidiary of Hive Digital Technologies, will deliver an AI-native cloud layer using Hypertec’s hardware and NVIDIA computing. Cohere will use this platform to operate its foundation models. This supports secure enterprise-grade AI solutions for government and business customers. The four companies aim to build conditions for critical AI research and development using Canadian infrastructure. Bell AI Fabric helps organizations move from AI experimentation to production on Canadian-governed infrastructure. Bell AI Fabric was launched over a year ago to provide AI services to Canadian businesses and governments. Bell has called it the country's largest AI compute project. BCE Inc., Bell's parent company, recently increased its revenue target for its AI business. It expects around $2 billion in revenue from AI-powered enterprise solutions by 2028. This collaboration provides secure and reliable AI solutions for enterprises and governments, knowing where their models run and how data is protected.
