Benioff Invests $300M in Anthropic AI for Coding

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff plans to spend about $300 million on Anthropic's AI this year, mainly for coding. He calls the AI startup "a rocket ship that will not stop." Benioff said coding agents have unlocked new capabilities, like faster software deployment and AI-driven prospecting. He believes he can now implement and sell software simultaneously. Benioff praised these coding agents as "awesome" and called Anthropic "awesome." Salesforce has also launched Headless 360, a platform with over 60 tools. This platform gives AI agents, including Claude Code, direct access to its enterprise stack. Anthropic is expected to go public later this year. Salesforce stock has seen a 40.41% drop over the last 12 months. This investment highlights a significant shift in how large tech companies are leveraging AI for core operations.
