Bolt SA: ChatGPT Ride Requests Now Available

South Africans can now request a Bolt ride directly through ChatGPT. This new integration allows users to plan and book rides using the AI assistant and natural language. What's interesting is that users first install a Bolt plugin from the ChatGPT Plugin Directory. Once installed, they can interact within ChatGPT to get fare estimates, compare routes, see driver arrival times, and find pickup locations. When ready to travel, trip details transfer to the Bolt app to complete the booking. Payments will still process through the Bolt app, though future updates may allow in-ChatGPT payments. Simo Kalajdzic, senior operations manager at Bolt South Africa, notes that South Africans are embracing AI for everyday tasks, and mobility is no different. This makes requesting a ride more seamless. The bottom line is that this aims to simplify ride requests by using text or conversational AI, positioning Bolt within the growing AI assistant ecosystem.
