Boomi Study: AI Agent Trust Lags Enterprise Adoption

A new study finds that many organizations are deploying AI agents despite a lack of trust in their actions. Eighty-six percent of surveyed organizations are past AI agent pilot programs, but only 34 percent trust what their AI agents do. What's interesting is this trust deficit stems from weaknesses in data integration and governance, not the AI models themselves. Boomi CEO Steve Lucas states that the trust problem with AI is really a data problem. Organizations in "agentic chaos" are aggressively deploying AI, with 77 percent moving agents into production despite governance issues. This exposes them to an average of $2.1 million in additional costs from penalties and disruptions. The bottom line is that companies with stronger governance are more likely to invest in integration platforms and API management before expanding AI. This leads to measurable returns like productivity improvements and increased innovation. This matters because a strong data foundation is crucial for successful and trustworthy AI deployment.
