Capital One Software is highlighting AI-ready tokenization as crucial for businesses. This approach balances data security with innovation, allowing sensitive data to be used safely in AI. Security teams traditionally blocked access, but this conflicts with the speed AI demands. Vincent Goveas, a director at Capital One Software, explains that companies are shifting from perimeter defense to data-centric security. Capital One developed an internal solution, now called Capital One Databolt, to handle its large-scale needs in the public cloud. This enterprise tokenization solution is now available to other organizations. Tokenization replaces sensitive data with non-sensitive placeholders that preserve the original format. For example, an email address still looks like an email address. This means existing applications and databases continue to function. This method also means if a system is breached, a malicious actor would only find useless placeholders instead of clear, sensitive data. This helps businesses accelerate their cloud and AI initiatives while maintaining data control.
