ChatGPT Bidi 1: Bidirectional Voice Mode & Tiers

OpenAI is preparing a new bidirectional voice model called Bidi 1 for ChatGPT. This model will allow ChatGPT to listen and speak at the same time, unlike the current system which stops when a user talks. Code and user interface elements for Bidi 1 appeared on June 16th, and some users are already getting access. Early tests show it can handle interruptions, switch tasks mid-sentence, and keep context in longer conversations. The voice mode bubble will turn yellow when Bidi 1 is active. Bidi 1 also introduces three intelligence tiers: High, Medium, and Instant. This allows users to adjust the reasoning depth for different tasks. This new feature aims to make voice interactions much more natural and efficient for users.
