ChatGPT Codex Nears Claude Code in Website Visits

ChatGPT Codex is now closely competing with Claude Code in website visits. New data shows that OpenAI's coding agent has significantly closed the gap with Anthropic's product. What's interesting is that at the beginning of July, Claude Code had over 200,000 daily visits, while ChatGPT Codex was under 100,000. Claude Code even reached 290,000 visits during this time. However, around July 13th and 14th, Codex's traffic surged, jumping from about 145,000 to over 300,000 visits. It briefly overtook Claude Code. From then on, the two products frequently traded positions in daily visits. By the last week of July, their traffic lines were almost parallel. Claude Code reached around 290,000 visits, with Codex close behind at 260,000 to 280,000. This is a big change from Claude Code's earlier lead. As of August 1st, Claude Code settled around 197,000 visits, and Codex was just behind at 213,000. This shows a reversal of their earlier positions. The bottom line is that the competition in AI coding tools is heating up, impacting developers and tech companies alike.
