ChatGPT Locked Chats: PIN & Biometric Security Spotted

OpenAI developers are planning to introduce a new security tool called Locked Chats in ChatGPT. This feature will allow users to protect their conversations with a PIN code or biometric data, like a fingerprint. Locked chats will be removed from the sidebar, activity history, and search results. Access will only be possible after verification. A chat remains secured until the user manually deactivates the lock for that specific dialogue. What's interesting is that locked chats can see memory from regular chats, but new data created within a locked dialogue will not spill over into regular conversations. This lock protects the visibility of the dialogue content on the device; it does not clear accumulated OpenAI memory. This differs from "Temporary Chats," which are deleted after 30 days. Locked Chats are persistent and retain context. OpenAI has not officially confirmed the release, as this information comes from findings in the Android app code. The bottom line is this feature could significantly improve privacy for sensitive conversations within ChatGPT.
