OpenAI may soon let ChatGPT users protect individual chats with a PIN or fingerprint. This potential feature, reportedly called Locked Chats, was seen in an Android version of the ChatGPT app. It could allow users to keep selected conversations in their accounts, hidden from their regular chat list and search results. Access would require authentication, like a PIN or fingerprint, offering a new layer of privacy beyond securing the entire app or device. Users could move individual conversations into a locked section. This means a person could continue using ChatGPT normally, while keeping specific chats behind an additional privacy barrier. This differs from ChatGPT's existing Temporary Chat feature, which deletes conversations. Locked chats would remain saved but hidden, useful for private discussions users want to revisit later. This could be important as people use AI for more personal and sensitive topics.
