ChatGPT Luna: Unlimited AI for Free Users & More

OpenAI is rolling out a major update to ChatGPT, making its AI tools more accessible to free users. Free and Go users will soon get unlimited text chats powered by the new GPT-5.6 Luna model. This new model will replace GPT-5.5 as the default. What's interesting is the return of the "Think" button. This feature allows ChatGPT to spend more time on questions requiring deeper reasoning, like research or complex calculations. OpenAI says GPT-5.6 Luna is also more reliable with facts, showing 62% fewer factual errors in internal tests compared to the previous model. While text chats will be unlimited, separate limits will still apply to features like file uploads and image generation. For Plus and Pro users, an updated GPT-5.6 Sol is already available, offering more focused answers and a new thinking slider. GPT-5.6 Luna will become the default for Free and Go users this week, with unlimited text chats and the Think button arriving next week. This move aims to make advanced AI less dependent on paid subscriptions for regular text conversations.
