ChatGPT Market Share Drops Below 50% for First Time

This is down from over 50% at the start of the year. Competitors are gaining ground. Gemini holds 27.7% of the market, and Anthropic's Claude has 10.3%. Claude's monthly active user growth significantly outpaced ChatGPT's, with 640% compared to 62%. OpenAI has faced challenges, including a deal with the Pentagon that led to user backlash and the formation of an anti-OpenAI organization called QuitGPT. The company also reportedly shifted its internal strategy and started showing ads. This shift in market share indicates a changing landscape in the competitive AI assistant industry.
