ChatGPT on Mac: Read & Send Apple Messages

ChatGPT can now read and send Apple Messages from a Mac. OpenAI has introduced a new plug-in for this. It allows users to search conversations, prepare replies, and send messages directly from the chatbot on macOS. The plug-in is available across ChatGPT plans through the desktop app for Mac. It also works with ChatGPT Work and Codex. Users can ask ChatGPT to find information in their message history, analyze conversations, draft responses, or send messages to contacts. The integration can even delete messages and suggest follow-up responses. OpenAI has included an approval step for sending messages. By default, users must approve both the content and recipients before a message is sent. The company warns against disabling this approval step. This integration raises privacy questions because messages can contain personal information. OpenAI states the plug-in operates locally on the user's machine and does not create a complete index of messages. This feature shows a move towards ChatGPT performing actions across user applications.
