ChatGPT Text Limits Removed: Unlimited Conversations Soon

OpenAI is removing text limits for free and Go account users on ChatGPT starting next week. This means you can have unlimited plain text conversations. What's interesting is that rate limits will still apply to image generation, file uploads, and voice mode. So, while text chats are free of caps, other features remain limited. Alongside this change, GPT-5.6 Luna is becoming the new default model for free and Go accounts this week, replacing GPT-5.5 Instant. A new "Think" button will also allow Luna to spend more time on responses, and this feature is also unlimited for text-only use. Plus and Pro users will get an updated GPT-5.6 Sol model, tuned for everyday conversation, and a new slider to control response effort. The bottom line is that more people will now have the ability to develop ideas and get help through unlimited text interactions with ChatGPT.
