ChatGPT to Watch Screens & Record Calls: Altman

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says future AI assistants like ChatGPT could soon watch your screen and record calls. This capability would allow the AI to understand much more of a user's digital activity. Altman believes a version of ChatGPT could continuously observe computer activity, follow meetings, and record calls. This would happen only if users grant permission. He suggests such a system could become useful within the next six months. Users would decide exactly which services, like email or Slack, the AI could access. The goal is for the AI to work alongside users, understanding their context and offering help, rather than just responding to prompts. For example, an AI could suggest ideas for a sales pitch or identify mistakes in a strategy document. This technology could be only one model generation away from being highly useful. The concept of screen-aware AI is already being tested with features like Microsoft's Recall and OpenAI's Computer History for macOS. These features are optional and give users control over what is tracked and stored. This shift could significantly change how people interact with their digital tools and manage their daily tasks.
