OpenAI is removing text chat limits for free ChatGPT users and adding new safeguards for teenagers. Free users will now use the new GPT-5.6 Luna model, which will allow unlimited text conversations. What's interesting is that Plus and Pro subscribers are getting the updated GPT-5.6 Sol model. This model now handles both quick replies and longer reasoning through a single system. OpenAI states the goal is to provide more focused answers and adapt to the level of detail required. OpenAI reports that these updates significantly reduce factual errors. Internal tests showed errors were 62 to 68 percent less common with the new models compared to the previous version. For younger users, GPT-5.6 Sol was trained to avoid romantic roleplay and age-restricted challenges. It also includes new age-related boundaries for sensitive topics like sexual material and dangerous activities. The company aims for the model to encourage teens to connect with trusted people when support is needed. This means users can expect more accurate responses and unlimited text chats, while younger users will have increased safety.
