ChatGPT Voice Mode: GPT-Live Listens While It Speaks

ChatGPT's voice mode just received a major update with the introduction of GPT-Live. This new generation of voice models allows ChatGPT to listen and speak simultaneously. Here's the thing: you can now interrupt mid-answer, pause, or ask it to slow down, and the system adjusts without restarting the conversation. This full-duplex architecture means it behaves more like a person on a call, acknowledging you while you speak. Two versions, GPT-Live-1 and GPT-Live-1 mini, are rolling out globally starting July 8th. GPT-Live-1 becomes the default for Go, Plus, and Pro subscribers, while free accounts get GPT-Live-1 mini. Both will be available across iOS, Android, and ChatGPT.com. What's interesting is that spoken answers now include a visual layer. If you ask about weather or stocks, ChatGPT displays widget-style cards on screen as it talks.
