China's Zai AI: Mythos-Class AI by 2027, GLM-5.2 Tops Charts

A Chinese AI lab called Zai suggests China could develop a "Mythos-class" AI model before the first quarter of 2027. This follows the launch of their new GLM-5.2 model. What's interesting is, the US recently restricted foreign access to powerful AI models like Anthropic's Mythos 5 and Fable 5. This was due to concerns they could be used for cyberattacks. Zai's head founder, Tang Jie, believes China can achieve this AI capability sooner than many expect. This could lessen the impact of US restrictions on China getting advanced AI technologies. The GLM-5.2 model from Zai has also topped Artificial Analysis as the number one open-source model and ranks in the top three globally.
