Claude Opus 5: Cheaper AI, Matches Fable 5 Performance

Anthropic has launched Claude Opus 5, a new artificial intelligence model. The company states it offers performance similar to Claude Fable 5 for coding and knowledge tasks, but at a significantly lower cost. Opus 5 is priced at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens, which is about half the cost of Fable 5. Anthropic claims it outperforms its predecessor on several benchmarks and even surpassed OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol in some tests. For example, Opus 5 reportedly built a computer vision pipeline and a market data feed in internal testing. However, Opus 5 is not designed for high-risk areas like advanced cybersecurity applications. It aims to block high-risk requests while still helping developers with software vulnerabilities.
