Claude Opus 5: Near-Fable AI Performance, Half the Price

Anthropic has launched Claude Opus 5, a new AI model that delivers near-Fable 5 performance at about half the price. This model is available now through Claude dot ai, becoming the strongest option for Pro subscribers and the new default for Max users. Developers can also access it via the Anthropic API, Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry. What's interesting is that Opus 5 offers advanced reasoning, coding, and long-context capabilities. It features a 1 million-token context window and supports up to 128,000 output tokens. The model also includes Adaptive Thinking, which adjusts its reasoning based on task complexity. Anthropic has also added an optional Fast mode for lower latency in time-sensitive tasks. This release is part of Anthropic's strategy to offer a portfolio of models optimized for different budgets and workloads.
