Clawdbot Renamed Moltbot: Anthropic Trademark Dispute

The viral AI agent known as Clawdbot has changed its name to Moltbot. Its creator, Peter Steinberger, says Anthropic, owner of multiple Claude-related trademarks, "forced" the renaming. Steinberger stated on X that it "wasn't my decision." He also mentioned that he was "not allowed" to simply change the name to Clawbot. The popular agent, which launched in December, was originally named after a monster users see while reloading Claude Code. Moltbot's mission will remain the same as a free, open-source agent. Steinberger also asked crypto traders of Clawd meme coins to stop "harassing" him on X. This situation highlights how trademark issues can impact even popular AI projects.
