Cloudera & Mercy Corps AI: VERA Speeds Aid Decisions

Cloudera and Mercy Corps are deepening their partnership with a new AI solution called VERA. This agentic AI is designed to help humanitarian teams gather information and analyze crises more quickly. VERA automates research and analysis workflows. It is powered by Cloudera AI Studios, built on Amazon Web Services, and uses Anthropic’s Claude models. This allows VERA to transform large amounts of humanitarian data into actionable insights. The solution has already shown significant results. It provides up to 90% time savings in producing security reports for teams in Colombia. Secondary research and desk analysis time for Sudan-focused reporting has been cut from five or six days down to two or three. This also leads to estimated cost savings of about $2,000 per Colombia security report and $1,500 per Sudan analysis report. VERA helps humanitarian teams make faster, more informed decisions in critical situations.
