Cloudflare: Agentic AI Traffic Tops Human Web Traffic

Cloudflare reports that agentic AI traffic now accounts for the majority of web requests. This means agentic AI bots generate 57.4% of traffic, surpassing human traffic at 42.6%. Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince shared this data, noting it happened faster than he expected. These aren't traditional web crawlers. Agentic bots autonomously search the web for AI assistants like ChatGPT and Gemini. They can visit many more pages per task than a human. For example, an AI assistant might query thousands of pages for one prompt. This shift changes how web traffic looks, impacting measurement, security, and costs across the web. Regional differences are significant, with North America showing about 68.6% agentic traffic. This structural change in web traffic composition affects everyone operating online.
