Code for a Billion: India's 80th Independence Day AI Hackathon

Code for India is launching a 90-day virtual hackathon called "Code for a Billion." This Agentic-AI Impact Hackathon will begin on August 15, 2026, which is India's 80th Independence Day. Participants can register online and build projects within AgentFoundry.me, the official AI-native development environment. The hackathon runs until November 15, 2026. Winners will be announced on December 5, 2026, based on deployed projects. Code for India founder Karl Mehta states the goal is to turn India's AI potential into deployed solutions that improve real lives. Nasscom and SSC Nasscom's FutureSkills Prime are partners, helping reach students and developers across India. Every participant signing up will receive 1 million free smart-code tokens. Projects will be judged on deployment, impact, and technical execution. This initiative provides a platform for developers to create AI solutions for public good.
