Codex Mobile App: OpenAI Brings Coding AI to iOS & Android

OpenAI is bringing Codex to the ChatGPT mobile app. This makes its coding agent available on iOS and Android in preview for all ChatGPT plans. The mobile app transforms your phone into a control surface for Codex sessions already running on other devices. Developers can inspect threads, review outputs, approve commands, and follow terminal output in real time. Files, credentials, and local setup remain on the machine where Codex is operating. This move pushes Codex toward long-running agent supervision. The mobile app can load live state from the environment where Codex is running, with a secure relay layer keeping trusted machines reachable. OpenAI is also expanding Codex for enterprise workflows. Remote SSH is now generally available, allowing Codex to connect to approved remote development environments. Hooks are also generally available for tasks like scanning prompts for secrets or customizing Codex behavior. Codex mobile preview is rolling out in supported regions. Remote SSH and Hooks are available on all plans. This update extends Codex's capabilities, making it less dependent on a developer sitting at one workstation.
