Cognizant Launches EMEA AI Unit Amidst Pilot Failures

Cognizant has launched a dedicated AI unit for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This new unit aims to help businesses successfully implement AI projects. Most enterprise AI projects struggle, with 88 percent of AI agent proofs-of-concept never reaching full production. Only four out of every 33 pilot projects typically go live. This new unit, called Frontier Deployed Engineering, uses a three-tier model to address common failure points in AI deployments. The first tier, Foundation, focuses on strategy, governance, and technology selection, including a critical component to prevent AI agents from generating incorrect information. The second tier, Accelerate, aims to speed up integration with existing systems, compressing development times from months to days. The third tier, Transform, deploys teams to redesign and automate workflows, focusing on operational performance and business reinvention. This initiative is crucial because while many organizations expect to deploy AI agents soon, over 40 percent of these projects are projected to be canceled due to high costs and unclear value. This new unit seeks to bridge the gap between AI pilots and successful, large-scale deployment.
