CrowdStrike's $100K AI Security Challenge: Defend AI Agents

CrowdStrike has launched a new global cybersecurity competition with a total prize pool of $100,000. It's called "AI Unlocked: Agents of Chaos" and aims to help security professionals defend against attacks targeting AI agents. What's interesting is that participants will use prompt injection and other AI red-teaming techniques. They'll manipulate malicious AI agents in a fictional attack scenario. This challenge reflects the growing reality that AI agents are a new class of enterprise identity, capable of accessing systems and moving data. CrowdStrike's chief marketing officer, Jennifer Johnson, states that attacks like prompt injection and agent hijacking are no longer theoretical risks. The competition is divided into three stages, with the first stage, The Sanctum, offering a $10,000 prize. The Gatekeeper follows with a $20,000 prize, and the final stage, The Basilisk, has a $70,000 grand prize. This initiative provides defenders with practical experience securing AI agents, which are becoming a target for cyber attackers.
