Cultpix AI Adult Film: Cannes Debut Sparks Debate

A collection of AI-generated short films, inspired by 1976 erotic magazine photo spreads, has debuted on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival. These films are streaming on Cultpix, with a physical release on BluRay and VHS expected from Klubb Super 8. Norwegian developer Thomas Meier of Multiformat used generative AI tools to add color, synchronized sound, dialogue, and voice-over to the archival stills. Cultpix CEO and co-founder Rickard Gramfors states they aim to use the latest technology to stimulate discussion about attitudes towards these half-century-old images. This project uses AI as a tool for re-presentation, and it's part of a broader interest in vintage erotica.
