Databricks Genie One: AI Agent Transforms Business Data

Databricks has launched its Genie One agentic coworker, part of a new Genie suite of coworking agents. These agents aim to turn business data into answers and actions. The suite is built on Genie Ontology, which provides a data context from all knowledge within an organization. This includes data, documents, tags, content, applications, and people. Databricks says this self-improving context layer helps understand a business completely from its data. Ali Ghodsi, Databricks co-founder and CEO, states that most enterprise AI today lacks sufficient context. Genie Ontology continuously learns context from data everywhere, leading to faster answers and more accurate agents. This is described as the difference between an AI chatbot and an agentic coworker who truly knows a business. Genie Ontology automatically extracts and updates business knowledge from Databricks and over 50 popular apps and data systems. This includes integrations like Google Drive, Jira, Slack, and SharePoint. This new context layer helps Genie deliver more accurate answers with reduced latency and lower costs for data-intensive questions. Genie One is available on the web, iOS, and Android. It goes beyond answering questions, producing documents, reports, and artifacts, and allows users to set up alerts and schedule tasks. This development offers a significant step forward in automating data work for businesses.
