DeepSeek has permanently cut the price of its V4-Pro AI model by 75%. This discount was originally set to end on May 31st. Now, V4-Pro API output tokens cost $0.87 per million. This is down from $3.48 at its launch just one month ago. The move intensifies a price war with other major AI companies. What's interesting is that this permanent cut makes DeepSeek significantly cheaper than some competitors. For example, Claude Opus 4.7 costs $25 per million tokens, and GPT-5.5 is $30. Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro costs $12. An application generating 100 million output tokens per month would cost roughly $87 on V4-Pro. The same usage would be $2,500 on Opus 4.7 or $3,000 on GPT-5.5. The company previously stated prices would fall once Huawei Ascend 950 supernodes shipped in larger quantities in late 2026. This permanent cut arrived much earlier than that target. This matters because it could make advanced AI more accessible and affordable for many users.
